Jordan’s Wadi Rum is a bucket list destination for many travelers around the world for all the right reasons, especially its otherworldly Martian landscape. That’s why camping or glamping in Wadi Rum is something many want to experience. As I crossed this adventure off my bucket list, I stayed at Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp and I’m here to tell you all about it.

Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp’s Booking Process
Starting off with the booking process, you have 2 options; either reserve via the property itself or via Booking.com. If you decide to book with the property, I found that they’re more responsive to WhatsApp over emails. Just bear in mind that you’ll have to pay the full amount in cash when you arrive. It goes without saying that there are no ATMs in the desert – and don’t expect the camp to have a POS machine.
If you don’t want to carry around a lot of cash, then you can easily reserve your tent through Booking.com. I personally love benefiting from their Genius Loyalty Program’s discounts!

Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp’s Location
When browsing Wadi Rum luxury camps, it’s important to make sure it’s actually located within the borders of the protectorate. A common scam is that many camps claim they’re located in Wadi Rum; when in fact, they’re located in an area called Diseh, right outside of Wadi Rum.
What’s great about Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp is that it’s one of the few Wadi Rum luxury camps located inside the protectorate, guaranteeing an authentic experience. So, if your bucket list included waking up to a vast brick-red desert view that looks like you woke up on Mars, this is the place for you.
As for reaching the campsite, Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp took care of that for me and can do the same for you. Upon my arrival at Wadi Rum Village, I met up with the driver they hired to take me to the campsite at the meeting point 7 KM away from the Visitors Center.
P.S.: You need to purchase an entry ticket at the Visitors Center, unless you have the Jordan Pass.
Accommodation
There are two types of stays at Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp; Deluxe tents and Martian tents. I stayed at the latter, the bubble-like tents. My room was fully equipped and came with a comfy king-size bed – some of these are twin bubbles too. The Deluxe tents may also offer triple accommodation.
The Martian tent, where I stayed, had fresh sheets and warm blankets for extra comfort at night. It also had an A/C and a private bathroom, which came with clean towels and toiletries. It’s also worth mentioning that showers have access to solar hot water all day long as Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp uses eco-friendly solar panels as their source of electricity.
P.S.: If you make your reservation through Booking.com, bear in mind that the Martian tents are referred to as Superior rooms.
The Atmosphere at Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp
The atmosphere was a blend of tranquility and cultural immersion. Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp’s location amidst a dramatic desert landscape exudes a serene and magical atmosphere, perfect for those seeking solitude and connection to nature. I remember arriving just in time for the sunset and it was out of this world. Not only that but as the golden-red hues of the desert transformed into a starlit paradise, there was an incredible sense of awe.
As the night sky takes over, and guests get ready for dinner, the Bedouins give quite the show before they serve Zarb. The traditional Bedouin meal is one that’s slow-cooked to perfection underground, usually consisting of chicken, vegetables, and rice. If you’ve been to Egypt, it’s pretty similar to Siwa’s Abu Mardam. Before dinner is served, guests can gather around the Bedouins as they pull out the multi-tiered cooking rack from underground – it’s quite an interesting mini-show to watch. The delicious cuisine along with the warmth of the Bedouins’ hospitality and the traditional interiors of the common area, you’ll feel fully immersed in the local culture.
It’s also worth mentioning that as a solo traveler, the seclusion and quiet didn’t bother me at all. In fact, it felt like a well-needed break from the fast-paced daily adventures in the city, meeting people every day. I got to disconnect and take in the beauty of nature, even from the comfort of my own room as I stayed in the Martian tent and got to marvel at a sky full of stars from the comfort of a hotel bed.
Available Facilities
- There are several common areas with authentic Bedouin interiors, including a spacious dining area where guests can indulge in their delicious meals served buffet style.
- Each tent features a terrace, aside from the common terrace area, to enjoy starry nights.
- Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp also offers various tours and activities such as Jeep tours, camel tours, scrambling and hiking adventures, and even hot air balloon rides.

Value for Money
The Martian tent, whether the one with a king-size bed or twin beds, was for JOD 220. As for the Deluxe tents, the double ones were for JOD 180 and the triple ones were for JOD 220. Prices per night included dinner, breakfast, and transportation from and/or to Wadi Rum Village.
It’s definitely not a budget stay; however, given the premium quality service, amenities, and food, as well as offering such an up-scale experience in the middle of nowhere, it all makes the experience totally worth it. So, if you’re up for a splurge and would like to spoil yourself, glamping in Wadi Rum is a bucket list-worthy experience.
Just bear in mind that any tours or activities will be at an additional cost.

Final Verdict
My overall experience at Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp was exceptional. So, if you’re looking at Wadi Rum luxury camps, look no further – this is a great choice and I highly recommend it.
