Must-Visit Instagramable Restaurants Around the World

Restaurants and cafés are not just about the food they serve, but they’re about the vibes, atmosphere, and the general feel of them as well. You can’t deny that you’d fall for a diner just for its appeal, this automatically drags you in there to try it out. So let’s agree that the more Instagramable […]

Bali for Egyptians: Frequently Asked Questions Answered

Bali, for Egyptians, is one of the hottest travel destinations at the moment. That being said, some of you, fellow Egyptian nomads, could be out there surfing the web, looking for answers, and doing your research about the exotic Indonesian island. Don’t fret, I’ve come to the rescue! Having gone through the whole process myself […]

Old Cairo Tour: Where All Three Abrahamic Religions Meet

Old Cairo is often overlooked whenever travelers come to visit the ancient land of Egypt. People care to visit the Great Pyramids of Giza and other sites like Khan El Khalili and tend to miss things like the historic Old Cairo Tour and the Saladin Citadel. As you all probably know, Curls en Route turned […]

“Unsafe Travel Destinations”: A Big Fat Lie That Media Feeds Us

As I grew up and as my sense of wanderlust grew with me, I’ve always heard about countries being labeled “unsafe travel destinations”. From drug lords and cartel stories to war zones, countries were dubbed “unsafe” merely because of incidents that happened at some point in time. Even my own homeland, Egypt, has fallen victim […]

Berlin Bucket List: 10 Things You Must Do When You Visit

On every traveler’s checklist, visiting Germany is a must, especially Berlin, its iconic capital. I personally took advantage of my Erasmus time in France and pay Berlin a visit. The city’s best known for its art scene, nightlife, and its history that dates back to the Soviet occupation. Having so much to offer, you can’t […]

The Ultimate Road Trip Playlist on Spotify

Being en route often means you need to have some kickass background music. We, travelers, have our earphones tucked in most of the time at connection flights and whatever’s in between. But when it comes to the highway, a true traveler must have a kicka** road trip playlist, a playlist that takes them places. If […]

The National Museum of Cinema: Italy’s Hidden Gem

With Italy having so much to offer, The National Museum of Cinema is by far one of the country’s top hidden gems in my humble opinion. Italian cinema has left a great legacy that only a few know the true value of, and if you’re a filmmaker or a film buff on the road, this […]

Did You Know That Bali’s an Underrated Shopping Destination?

Before visiting Bali, words that crossed my mind included surfing, yoga retreats, and jungles; but shopping, that was far from what I had expected. Believe it or not, the exotic island is a great shopping destination that is way too underrated. I personally bought a lot of garments from Bali that I’m so in love […]

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to look the same for Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. Especially when you’re dating a solo traveler.
This isn’t a typical gift guide.

It’s more like… a recipe written by someone who lives this lifestyle.
If you’re with someone who values freedom, memories, and choosing herself (hi 👋), experiences will ALWAYS mean more than stuff.
I broke it all down in my latest blog post, including how to gift travel experiences without needing to be a traveler yourself.
BONUS: You can use my @tinggly code “CurlsEnRoute” for up to 20% off Valentine’s gifts (10% year-round).

And don’t forget to send this to someone who needs it.

2025 wasn’t about ticking destinations off my buck 2025 wasn’t about ticking destinations off my bucket list.
It was about stories.
The stories you came back to.
The ones you saved for later.
The ones that quietly did the traveling for me.
A year in reads.
A year in progress.
A year that reminded me why I keep writing.
Thank you for being here 🤍

It’s been a while 🫶🏻
I took an unplanned break th It’s been a while 🫶🏻

I took an unplanned break these past few months due to some health-related challenges that required me to step back and take some time off. That’s why I haven’t been active or responsive lately. However, I started easing back into things last August, traveling a little locally and taking time to reflect. My annual Dahab trip, especially, gave me the clarity I needed to make a few big decisions about what’s next.
While I’m not ready to share all the details just yet, I can say this much: I’ve decided to hit pause on a few things for now (like social media, @curlsenroute.theshop, and events) and focus fully on the blog.
That’s where my energy will be going for the foreseeable future.
In the meantime, here’s a little photo dump of what the “good days” of my hiatus looked like.

And if you’re in the mood for a fresh read, there’s a new post up on the blog on how to choose the right hiking footwear (link in bio).
On the other hand, as the holiday gifting season is coming up, my annual compilation of travel Black Friday deals is now available too (link in bio).
Sending love and light to those who need it 🤍✨
Wrapping up an inspiring few days at @arabian_trav Wrapping up an inspiring few days at @arabian_travel_market 2025 ✨
Attending a travel trade show as a travel blogger felt a little out of place to many at first, even to me. Most people were there for B2B deals, and creators aren’t usually the most common people on the ground… yet. But it was a risk I was willing to take, and I’m so glad I did. This definitely won’t be my last ATM.
What makes it even more special is that I was supposed to attend ATM a few years ago, but something always came up. This year, things finally aligned. And honestly, after reflecting on this, I believe this was when it was meant to happen, not back then—this was the right time for me to show up, fully ready.
It’s been such a rewarding experience connecting with tourism boards, DMCs, travel brands, fellow creators, and industry professionals who are shaping the future of travel.
I’m also really happy I got to reunite with some familiar faces from the industry and make new friends along the way. This is one of the best parts of events like this!
From insightful conversations to exciting new ideas and potential collaborations, I’m walking away feeling energized and proud. Proud of how far I’ve come with @curlsenroute, and grateful for the feedback and validation (which you sometimes need as a creator) I’ve received from a bunch of inspiring industry leaders.
Here’s to more growth, bold steps, and showing up even when it feels a little unconventional.
Until next time, Dubai 🧳🌍

9 years ago, I took my very first solo trip… and i 9 years ago, I took my very first solo trip… and it was far from perfect (but life-changing).
I was alone, in a Nubian village that wasn’t even on the tourism map at the time, and I got really sick! Like, couldn’t-stand-up kind of sick…
But what could’ve been the worst experience turned into a core memory ✨ all thanks to the warmth and care of the people at @hadoutamasreya.
Fast forward 9 years, and I was back, healthier, more experienced, and just as in awe of this beautiful guesthouse, and its people.
Their hospitality hasn’t changed, and neither has the way this place makes you feel. Aswan will always be special to me, and Hadouta Masreya is a big part of why.
P.S. If you ever find yourself in Aswan, I got you a little treat! Use my promo code CURLSENROUTE10 to get 10% off your stay! All you have to do is book via email (hadoutamasreya@hotmail.com) and mention the promo code in your reservation.
Drop a comment if you want me to send you my full honest review on the blog ⬇️
