Craving American Food in Florence? You’ll Love This Diner!

As we travel and devour the destination’s cuisine along the way, no matter how much we enjoy it, our bellies sometimes long for something more familiar. Not because the traditional food is not as good, but because you’d definitely need a break if you eat pasta every day, even if your pasta’s number 1 fan. […]

The Travel Bug: How to Really Get Over It?

If you safely landed on this page, then you’re probably just like me, a wandering soul who’s constantly bitten by the travel bug. Sometimes we’re immersed in our daily routine and we often get distracted, but other times, we’re unlucky enough we start itching all over again. We cannot really control our constant desire to […]

The Reasons Why I Enjoyed Paris Were Not the Tour Eiffel nor the Seine

I remember growing up fantasizing about going to Paris. Everyone recited poetry whenever they talked about the City of Lights. They talked about how they stood in awe in front of the gigantic Eiffel Tower. They talked about how the Notre Dame and the Sacré Coeur stole their breaths away. They talked about the Louvre […]

The Story of How My Travel Addiction Started

I guess I secretly loved traveling way before I even knew I did. Whenever the summer vacation came, the first thing that would cross my mind was that I wanted to travel ANYWHERE. Even though my first time to travel overseas was when I was just 3-years-old, I didn’t get to travel a lot in […]

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to look the same for Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. Especially when you’re dating a solo traveler.
This isn’t a typical gift guide.

It’s more like… a recipe written by someone who lives this lifestyle.
If you’re with someone who values freedom, memories, and choosing herself (hi 👋), experiences will ALWAYS mean more than stuff.
I broke it all down in my latest blog post, including how to gift travel experiences without needing to be a traveler yourself.
BONUS: You can use my @tinggly code “CurlsEnRoute” for up to 20% off Valentine’s gifts (10% year-round).
Read the full guide via the link in bio 💌
And don’t forget to send this to someone who needs it.

2025 wasn’t about ticking destinations off my buck 2025 wasn’t about ticking destinations off my bucket list.
It was about stories.
The stories you came back to.
The ones you saved for later.
The ones that quietly did the traveling for me.
A year in reads.
A year in progress.
A year that reminded me why I keep writing.
Thank you for being here 🤍

It’s been a while 🫶🏻
I took an unplanned break th It’s been a while 🫶🏻

I took an unplanned break these past few months due to some health-related challenges that required me to step back and take some time off. That’s why I haven’t been active or responsive lately. However, I started easing back into things last August, traveling a little locally and taking time to reflect. My annual Dahab trip, especially, gave me the clarity I needed to make a few big decisions about what’s next.
While I’m not ready to share all the details just yet, I can say this much: I’ve decided to hit pause on a few things for now (like social media, @curlsenroute.theshop, and events) and focus fully on the blog.
That’s where my energy will be going for the foreseeable future.
In the meantime, here’s a little photo dump of what the “good days” of my hiatus looked like.

And if you’re in the mood for a fresh read, there’s a new post up on the blog on how to choose the right hiking footwear (link in bio).
On the other hand, as the holiday gifting season is coming up, my annual compilation of travel Black Friday deals is now available too (link in bio).
Sending love and light to those who need it 🤍✨
Wrapping up an inspiring few days at @arabian_trav Wrapping up an inspiring few days at @arabian_travel_market 2025 ✨
Attending a travel trade show as a travel blogger felt a little out of place to many at first, even to me. Most people were there for B2B deals, and creators aren’t usually the most common people on the ground… yet. But it was a risk I was willing to take, and I’m so glad I did. This definitely won’t be my last ATM.
What makes it even more special is that I was supposed to attend ATM a few years ago, but something always came up. This year, things finally aligned. And honestly, after reflecting on this, I believe this was when it was meant to happen, not back then—this was the right time for me to show up, fully ready.
It’s been such a rewarding experience connecting with tourism boards, DMCs, travel brands, fellow creators, and industry professionals who are shaping the future of travel.
I’m also really happy I got to reunite with some familiar faces from the industry and make new friends along the way. This is one of the best parts of events like this!
From insightful conversations to exciting new ideas and potential collaborations, I’m walking away feeling energized and proud. Proud of how far I’ve come with @curlsenroute, and grateful for the feedback and validation (which you sometimes need as a creator) I’ve received from a bunch of inspiring industry leaders.
Here’s to more growth, bold steps, and showing up even when it feels a little unconventional.
Until next time, Dubai 🧳🌍

9 years ago, I took my very first solo trip… and i 9 years ago, I took my very first solo trip… and it was far from perfect (but life-changing).
I was alone, in a Nubian village that wasn’t even on the tourism map at the time, and I got really sick! Like, couldn’t-stand-up kind of sick…
But what could’ve been the worst experience turned into a core memory ✨ all thanks to the warmth and care of the people at @hadoutamasreya.
Fast forward 9 years, and I was back, healthier, more experienced, and just as in awe of this beautiful guesthouse, and its people.
Their hospitality hasn’t changed, and neither has the way this place makes you feel. Aswan will always be special to me, and Hadouta Masreya is a big part of why.
P.S. If you ever find yourself in Aswan, I got you a little treat! Use my promo code CURLSENROUTE10 to get 10% off your stay! All you have to do is book via email (hadoutamasreya@hotmail.com) and mention the promo code in your reservation.
Drop a comment if you want me to send you my full honest review on the blog ⬇️
